Job Title: Water Hygiene Technician

Location: Doha-Qatar
Reports To: Water Hygiene Supervisor / Facilities Manager
Employment Type: Full-time 

Job Summary:
The Water Hygiene Technician is responsible for ensuring the safety and hygiene of water systems in compliance with regulatory standards. This role involves conducting water sampling, monitoring water quality, performing maintenance and cleaning procedures, and maintaining accurate records to prevent waterborne diseases and ensure regulatory compliance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct routine inspections and testing of water systems, including potable water, cooling towers, hot and cold water systems, and storage tanks.
  • Collect water samples and perform microbiological and chemical testing in accordance with established protocols.
  • Implement disinfection and cleaning procedures such as chlorination, flushing, and system cleaning.
  • Monitor and maintain water treatment equipment and chemical dosing systems.
  • Identify potential risks, such as Legionella contamination, and take corrective actions.
  • Maintain accurate records of inspections, water quality reports, maintenance activities, and compliance documentation.
  • Advise facility managers or clients on water hygiene best practices and regulatory compliance.
  • Respond promptly to water hygiene incidents or emergencies.
  • Stay updated with relevant health and safety regulations, guidelines, and best practices (e.g., WHO, local public health standards).

Qualifications:

  • Diploma or degree in Environmental Science, Microbiology, Chemistry, or related field.
  • Certification in water hygiene, water treatment, or Legionella control is preferred.
  • Knowledge of water systems, waterborne pathogens, and water treatment procedures.
  • Experience in sampling, testing, and reporting water quality data.
  • Familiarity with relevant health, safety, and environmental regulations.
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to work in various environments, including confined spaces and outdoor areas.
  • Ability to lift and carry equipment or water samples as needed.

Skills:

  • Analytical and observational skills for accurate testing and reporting.
  • Good communication skills for reporting and client interaction.
  • Time management and organizational skills to maintain schedules and compliance records.

Working Conditions:

  • May require working during non-standard hours, including weekends, depending on system schedules or emergencies.
  • Exposure to water systems, chemicals, and potentially hazardous environments.
